The glass is kiln fused and the edges are ground and polished. The bartop sits on an 8 inch thick cement wall with cobalt blue wine bottles embedded in cement. |

Transforming Float Glass: From Flat, Smooth, and Clear to Fluid, Organic, and Sculptural
Level: All Levels
The class will explore several methods of cutting and decorating 10mm float glass, using color, texture, and form. Artists with proficiency at painting can learn to adapt their skills to a variety of methods of painting on glass. Students will learn to create textured designs in the sand. They will experience the fun of discovering textures made from simple objects. The class will look at the design process and how to work with the material to express ideas. Learning to think in glass is the goal towards making design and construction flow with the material, not fight with it.
